The following is a list of free classes offered by the UAW Worker - Family Education Program. All classes are free of charge. Please note that Adult Education classes have open enrollment throughout the school year. Please use the online form at the bottom of this page to register for classes. Adobe InDesign 5.5
Mondays, 5:45 - 8:45pm

This course will familiarize you with the skills required to work in a professional print layout program. Areas covered in the course: Managing pages and books; working with text; working with graphics; working with objects and layers; working with styles

Prerequisite: computer basics: file naming and management, navigation

Advanced Excel 2007

PowerPoint: 4/12/12 - 5/24/12

Microsoft Excel: Review creating Charts, managing multiple Worksheets, freezing panes, use Lookup and Reference functions, create a PivotTable, PivotChart and PivotTable/PivotChart reports, using Paste Special, sorting and defining and applying filters, exporting and Microsoft Excel Worksheet and Chart into PowerPoint 2007
Microsoft PowerPoint: Create presentations (manually and using automated tools). Working with slides. Inserting and Modifying Text. Add tables, charts, clip aret and bitmap images to slides, customize slide backgrounds. Apply formulas to presentations. Apply animation scemes. Apply slide transitions. Set up slide shows.

This course covers basic software training (Microsoft Word and Outlook), email communications, memo and letter writing, common grammar and punctuation mistakes, design and layout of work using Word, do's and don'ts for written communications and other basic skills that are often helpful for people who have worked with tools for years but not with computers and the written word. *Call (212) 228-0041 to register by January 31*
